It's proving harder than I thought it would be and I really need to play regularly to help things sink in.
By way of encouragement to do just that, I was both pleased and shocked to see the impact my first competition had on my UK National ranking:

I was pleased to see 115 people with a ranking and there I am ranked 66th and the only way is down as I've no competition games planned for quite sometime.
My opponents from round 1 are ranked 25th (Neil Duffell) and 4th (Kevin Johnson). Other rankings worth mentioning:
- The Madaxeman himself (Tim Porter) is 12th after 7 competition entries.
- Dave Redhead (MAWS) is 13th after 6 competition entries.
- Graham Hutchinson (MAWS) is 77th after 3 competition entries.
