I finished the second Timurid elephant this week after an inspired session last
Saturday. I wish all my painting went as well as it did on that day.
I sat down to do some basic blocking and it just flowed; patterns and all.
To cap it all it’s now really sunny so the light is ideal for taking photos.

15 mm Timurid Elephant
Here's some new eye candy for you.
At the York show in February, I convinced myself that painting this would be an interesting, if tangential, addition to my Islamic Persian project.

DBMM For The Befuddled – Part 13
Well I never thought I’d be writing so many articles in this series. It’s
helped that people have requested I cover things. Sometimes it’s possible
and sometimes it’s not. The best articles have been the ones that contain
a solid issue that, once tackled, really helps people play the game.
Today’s article deals with the issue of fleeing troops. This is a core outcome move in DBMM and it frequently crops up as a combat outcome and as a response to flank marches.

Scenic Effects & Painting Patterns
I’ve just stumbled across Neldoreth’s web site An Hour of Wolves & Shattered Shields from Canada. For me the main highlights are:
- The excellent article on how to make a 15 mm river or waterway. There are really clear photos as well as an effective painting guide.
- The helpful article on painting patterns. The illustrations make it easy to copy and apply to your own figures.
I’ll be using the first article when I get round to finishing the waterway currently mouldering in the garage. I’m not sure I’ve still got the eyes for painting patterns like this in15 mm but the method is worth noting.
Recommended.

DBMM For The Befuddled – Part 12
On the way home from my day trip to
Ladywood, my playing partner and I were mulling over what we had learnt about the rules
and playing the game. One thing that struck us as a potential source of
Befuddlement was an aspect of column formation.

The Befuddled On Tour – Ladywood 2009
Yesterday, I and my regular DBMM opponent buried our differences and travelled
to Birmingham for the third Ladywood Invitational.
I’d like to thank Gordon Harrow for organising such an enjoyable event. The venue, refreshments, lunch and handy bar really were first class.
We took an 500 pt Early Russian army and lost both games but I will write up reports later. In the meantime here’s some photos from the day
