David Cantó raised an interesting
item on the forum at dbmm.org.uk about PIP costs for element and group movement.
He posted a prototype grid which I thought had lot of potential and so began a
pleasant afternoon as we worked up a helpful grid.
As always with these things I learnt a lot just by checking and re-checking the
grid. This time round it was really useful to have David’s comments and
questions testing the grid.
The grid only covers the sections on difficult evolutions and
irregular ineptness as these are the complicated sections. We finished it this
morning so here’s an image for you:
As with all these things it needs testing and there’s a few things that I need
to clarify before I incorporate it into the movement sheet. Once this is done
I’ll post a new version of the deployment & movement sheet.
Update: Thu, 29 Jan 2009
The situation regarding the PIP cost for column formation has finally been
sorted and so here’s a new image. Can you spot the difference?
If you want to read all the gory details see
Part 08 – Pip cost & column formation.
Update: Mon, 02 Mar 2009
I’ve realised that the use of the phrase “line to column” may mislead new
players. It should really read “group to column” or simply column
formation. The reasons why are
explained in this post.
