15 mm Russian Medieval Medium Cavalry (Essex)

The four units are intended as armoured lesser Boyars (Nobles) which are medium cavalry bow in Art de la Guerre (ADLG) hence the unarmoured horses.  Sadly many of the Essex miniatures don't have bow cases so I'll just have to use my imagination for those that don't:

In contrast to the heavy cavalry there's more variety in the shields and armour so the units are more interesting.

Here's a couple of side on photos to show the various unarmoured horse variants used, as well as a bit more of the shield designs (all hand painted):

Figures used
These are made from a pack each of EMED27 Russian 1300-1500: Heavy Cavalry with Lance & Shield,   EMED25 Russian 1300-1500: Heavy Cavalry with Lance, Bow & Shield and EMED23 Lithuanian: Medium / Heavy Boyar with Lance & Shield for a nice varied set of units that can be easily differentiated from the heavy cavalry.
