No, this post doesn't mean I'm switching scales.
Last weekend I visited my first trade show in over three years (Phalanx at St Helens) and I was able to go shopping in person! When I finish my Arab army they will need a baggage camp, so when I saw the tents below for £4.00 for the pair I couldn't resist:
They are SCN-TNT1 from Pendraken's range of 10 mm scale resin scenery. They only just fit on a 40 by 80 mm base, so that gives you an idea of how large they are.
As they are scaled for 10 mm figures they are not as high as I would have liked, but they will spend most of their time on the baseline during a game, so it isn't a problem.
I painted both quickly once they were prepared (see below) and it was nice to paint something so large. The second colour scheme is meant to be the reverse of the first. At first, I couldn't decide which scheme I preferred. However, having based them, I think the darker scheme is the best.
Model review
Sadly, these models are quite roughly finished. The folds aren't smooth
and don't replicate draped fabric at all well, although the basic shape is
fine.
I spent quite some time sanding the various folds smooth. This helped, but in the end I had to resort to decorator's fine surface filler to get the really smooth finish you see in the photos.
Overall, these models represent great value for money if you're prepared to put the work in.
