ADLG: First Impressions & Lists For Version 4

I'm still working my way through the new Art de la Guerre (ADLG) rule book.  At first my focus was on going through all the lists and the troop type costs so that I could release my list writing spreadsheet.

Having done that, and after perusing the changes document, I decided to read the book from cover to cover whilst keeping an eye on the ADLG Forum so see what issue others are raising.

Anyway I thought I'd write a little about my first impressions of the rules and post a few of the lists I've been tinkering with.

ADLG: V4 Rulebook Gets The Chop

I no longer own just one rulebook for Art de la Guerre (ADLG) V4.  I own two!  Strictly speaking I now own two "halves".

Four years ago I decided that ADLG V3 was too heavy to cart around and the binding was never going to survive use in games.  I therefore used the services of my local print shop to split the book in two and re-bind with wire spirals.

ADLG V4 is an even bigger book so this morning it received the same treatment.  I'm really pleased with my new, slim rule book.

Fun With Flags - A How To Guide

I have been flagging recently.  That is putting flags on to 15 mm flag poles.  So I thought I'd put together a post on my current method.

It is quite a lengthy post.  That's because there's a lot to bear in mind.  Plus I wanted to explain more than few tips & tweaks so that it would be useful to complete beginners.

Sadly, there are no pictures of some steps because I don't have the number of  hands required.

15 mm War of the Roses Commanders - Redux

This is another post showcasing another set of command bases for my Tudor army at Bosworth.  I already have a second set of mounted commanders based for Art de la Guerre (ADLG) but I felt the need(?) for some commanders on foot.  Any excuse to re-use the flags I created.

I chose Essex Miniatures for the commanders to be based on 40 by 15 mm bases because I wanted some bases with flags upright but I also wanted to experiment with the "new trend" in ADLG command bases with a 40 mm round base.

What I Have Painted Recently

I haven't written a post like this for a while but recently I've been having a bit of fun working through some odd packs from my lead pile and even a few new figures.  So I ended up with quite a few finished items from different armies and periods.

First up are some Bedouin light horse using RKMA4 from Roundway with a mixture of Roundway & Donnington horses:
